Medill Professor See Double Standard in Quotes Incident

An investigation by Medill’s provost may have cleared Dean John Lavine of a breach of ethics in the use of anonymous quotes, but not everyone thinks the matter should be closed.
Medill Professor David Protess told the Chicago Tribune that the school had set a double standard by allowing Lavine to escape sanction for something which would have probably have resulted in a failing grade by a student.
David Spett, the student columnist who first wrote about the incident and interviewed every student who could have been quoted by Lavine told the paper he was “taken aback by the assertion that there's no evidence these quotes were fabricated."
